Blogger has been on the fritz again it seems...

I got back from sunny CA on Tuesday. The conference was wonderful! There were about 250 kids from around the country shepherded by 14 priests. We stayed at the beautiful Camp St. Nicholas, which is an Orthodox run camp way up in the mountains. The chapel small, so we did Liturgy in proper Eastern fashion--without pews. Everyday we had two workshops given mostly by clergy. They focused on JPII's Theology of the Body and Byzantine Catholicism. I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with one of the priests, a Salesian, about vocations. That was a great encouragement for sure! He talked very passionately about Christ, the Divine Bridegroom in his workshop which left me smiling for the rest of the day!

I was surprised and delighted to discover that there were other converts to Byzantine Catholicism at the conference. One woman, who was our cantor, was Baptist before coming Home. The young man who introduced all the speakers was also a convert.

After the conference was over, our Pittsburgh group packed up and headed on to the wonderful world of Disney. An interesting experience. My dad tells me he still has nightmares about the "It's a small world" ride after getting stuck on it when my oldest sister was three.
