"Whom have I in Heaven but Thee? And there is nothing upon earth that I desire besides Thee." (Psalm 73:25)

That pretty much sums up the ultimate goal of Christian living I think.

"Let the contemplation of the wonders which the heavenly Father has worked in the humble maiden of Nazareth ever orient your consecrated life in the demanding journey of sanctification, on the hems of Her who entirely consecrated to the service of God was constituted our Mother, Mother of the Church and of the whole of mankind."

-Pope John Paul II

The chem midterm was attrocious (even the kid in my class with a GPA higher than 4.0 said so!) *sigh* It's been snowing all day though, so that brightens things up!

Mom talked with Fr. tonight about the possibility of my going to AL this summer. Looks like I'm going to be able to visit the PCPA's and the SsEWs afterall! How exciting! I think I'm going to be spending about a third of my summer visiting various different convents...a week or two at Carmel, time in AL, and a visit to the Passionists! lol. In between traveling I need a job. I think I'll probably apply at Giant Eagle or the nursing home. My sister tells me that working at the nursing home is a very undesirable job, but I like working with older folks, so I'm going to apply anyway I think.

There is lovely white stuff coming down from the sky. Not snow this time, but sleet! They are calling for 3-6 inches of various forms of precipitation tonight, so I’m forecasting a 2-hour delay for tomorrow. ;-) That would be nice.

It’s official. Mom and I will be bundling up and heading off to DC for the March on the 22nd. I’m looking forward to it a lot. This will be the first time I have ever gone, and it’s been about 20 years since my mom last went. Apparently it is an amazing event!

The household is in a bit of a Carmelite literature craze. Fr. Tom lent me the Complete Works of St. John of the Cross which is incredible. Mom and I are both reading it now. Another one of the monks gave my dad a copy of The Science of the Cross by St. Edith Stein which is also very interesting but a bit over my head. I’m rereading a bunch of things by Bl. Elizabeth of the Trinity and St. Teresa of the Andes (and of course, St Therese!) They are all patrons of youth! Straying from the Carmelite writers a little, I’m also working my way through various letters, exhortations, etc. of our Holy Father. Powerful stuff!

The other day we were having a discussion at supper about a local radio show host who does a little Catholic bashing on occasion, and I was quite happy to hear my non-Catholic little sis say she understands why Catholics pray (not worship!!!) to Saints. Her reasoning is right on. We ask friends here on earth for prayers, so why not ask friends in Heaven for prayers as well?

Please, please pray for Fr. Benedict Groeshel who was in a bad accident on Sunday. He is now in critical but stable condition. He is one of the wonderful Priests that helped my parents get started on their journey home to Catholicism.

Finals week. Yikes! I'm very stressed. The worst (hopefully) is over though because I took the problem part of the chem final today. YAC is coming up next month which has me worried as well. I worry too much! I met with the accompaniest for YAC today. Rehearsal went well. She looks just like Sr. Marie Cecile!!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be at the March for Life in DC this year. I'll either go with one of the RC parishes in town, or hitch a ride with the Sisters of St. Basil. Then in February are the Professions of two of the Sisters at Sugarloaf, Youth 2000, and YAC. Exciting!

God is so good in giving me the friends he has. I never expected to be talking about CS Lewis and Catholic theology with friends in highschool, but I am! Plus, God has given me wonderful people who I correspond with and have been so much help with all the discernment stuff. Speaking of which...

Happy birthday to Sr. Carrie!!
