Dominus Illuminatio Mea

"...the gaze of the Church is constantly turned to her Lord, present in the Sacrament of the Altar, in which she discovers the FULL manifestantion of His boundless love." Ecclesia de Eucharistia

We had an assignment last night that one of my Carmelite Saints would have described as being a "terrible task" (she wrote home to her mother that the sisters had assigned her the task of writing poetry for recreation to dispel all sorts of dreadful rumors about gloomy convent life!), and being a hesitant poet, I finished late last night. My teacher belongs to the KofC, but I wonder what he will make of this...

Exodus

She knew not when He first spoke
A voice without sound
A melody woven into
A tapestry of silence

She had searched for Him
In darkness and the sleep before waking
In the dappled shadows of dusk and dawn
In the blinding light of noonday sun

“Have you seen Him whom my soul loves?”
In torrents of rain and waves that crashed on barren shores
In the flight of an eagle soaring aloft, tasting the heights, consumed by living fire
In the outstretched hand and innocent cry of a newborn child

She cried out
Into the darkness
In agony
In desperation

But now
A breathe of life poured into dry bones
A Word spoken into Eternity
A call “to being from nothingness”

The Song of Songs has always been close to my heart...the ultimate romance between the Creator and his bride. Mysterium fidei!

I got a letter in the mail from my dear brother in Christ a few days ago. God willing, he will be clothed with the habit of the Franciscan order shortly! I can hardly believe it. Please keep him and those in his class in your prayers!

Well, I'm in KofC too, and I like your poem! I have to re-read it in a little while (a coworker is giving me the stink-eye for doing non-essential internet stuff), but I thought it was very well done!
